Catherine Remkes moved to Fayette County in 1994, and attended Fayette County schools from 4th through 12th grade. After graduation from McIntosh High School, Catherine attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA before graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a specialty in Statistics from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. While in college, Catherine played soccer and rowed crew. After graduation from college, Catherine moved back to Fayette County and began work as a Marketing Analyst with a major US airline. Additionally, she taught night classes at Georgia Military College. In 2007, Catherine married Bryce Remkes, a US Air Force pilot, and the young couple moved throughout the United States on multiple assignments until returning to Georgia in 2014. Throughout multiple moves, Catherine attained her teaching certificate, teaching Mathematics at both the middle and high school levels. In the fall of 2014, Catherine began work as a teacher at Starr's Mill High School, where she taught Mathematics and AP Computer Science. In 2020, Catherine graduated from Georgia State University with a Master's in Education in Mathematics Education and received the Outstanding Student Award. In 2021, Catherine took a position with Arizona State University's Math Momentum program, teaching online to students in Arizona. In 2023, Catherine left her position with ASU, started a small business in floriculture on her property in Brooks, and returned to Fayette County classrooms as a substitute teacher. Catherine is the proud parent of a Fayette County middle and high schooler.
